Adriana Duelo
Registered Dietitian and Nutritionist
Born in Barcelona, Adriana Duelo holds a degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from Ramon Llull University, a Master’s degree in Nutrition and Public Health from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), and is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Barcelona, within the Bioactive Amines and Polyamines in Food research group.
She is a member of the Scientific Committee of the International Institute of DAO Deficiency and actively contributes to the clinical and scientific progress in this histamine-related metabolic disorder. Both her final degree project in 2011 and her Master’s dissertation in 2017 were dedicated to DAO enzyme deficiency and its treatment. She is also a member of the Catalan College of Dietitians-Nutritionists and the Spanish Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
After more than 10 years leading a team of registered dietitians in Barcelona, Duelo took a further step in 2022 by assuming leadership of the International Institute of DAO Deficiency (DAO Institute), a global organisation dedicated to patients, healthcare professionals and research. Today, the DAO Institute has specialists in 35 cities across 18 countries, providing both in-person and online care to patients.
Adriana has devoted her entire professional career to specialised private practice in excess histamine due to DAO deficiency, as well as to scientific communication at both national and international level.
